Death toll from strike on Gaza tunnel this week rises to 12

GAZA (Reuters) – A Palestinian militant group said on Friday that five of its members had been killed earlier this week when Israel blew up a cross-border tunnel being dug by militants from the Gaza Strip, bringing the death toll in the strike to 12.
Neither side seemed eager to seek escalation after the tunnel was blown up on Monday by Israel, which pointed out that its action was carried out on its own side of the border.
The Islamic Jihad group said it was denied access to the collapsed tunnel and was unable to recover the bodies of its five members.
Both Islamic Jihad and Hamas, the dominant Islamist group in Gaza that had said earlier it lost two people in the tunnel collapse, have sworn to retaliate.
Hamas accused Israel of trying to undermine a reconciliation agreement it reached with Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian Authority, last month.
Israel has been constructing a sensor-equipped underground wall along the 60-km (36-mile) Gaza border, aiming to complete the $1.1 billion project by mid-2019.
During the last Gaza war, in 2014, Hamas fighters used dozens of tunnels to blindside Israel’s superior forces and threaten civilian communities near the frontier, a counterpoint to the Iron Dome anti-missile system that largely protected the country’s heartland from militant rocket barrages.
Israel and the United States have called for Hamas to be disarmed as part of the pact between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, so Israeli peace efforts with Abbas, which collapsed in 2014, could proceed. Hamas has rejected the demand.

Disgruntled Twitter Employee Temporarily Deletes President Trump’s Personal Account
An employee at Twitter deleted President Donald Trump’s personal Twitter account on their last day at the company.
Early Thursday night, President Donald Trump’s personal Twitter account, @realDonaldTrump, was seemingly removed from Twitter’s website, returning an error to users attempting to access the president’s Twitter page.

Approximately 11 minutes, however, the account was restored. Twitter used their Twitter Government account to announce their investigation into the supposed error and claimed President Trump’s account was deleted due to “human error by a Twitter employee.”
Earlier today @realdonaldtrump’s account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee. The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.
— Twitter Government (@TwitterGov) November 3, 2017
Shortly after this tweet, Twitter provided some further context to the deletion, revealing that a disgruntled former employee had deleted President Trump’s account on their last day at Twitter. The company stated that they would be conducting a full internal review:
Through our investigation we have learned that this was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee’s last day. We are conducting a full internal review. https://t.co/mlarOgiaRF

Breitbart News reached out to Twitter for comment but was told by a Twitter spokesperson that they didn’t have “anything further to share beyond our Tweets tonight but thank you for checking.”
Many leftists took to Twitter to express their joy over the deletion of President Trump’s account, if even only for a short period of time.

For the briefest of moments, Donald Trump’s twitter was deactivated. And there was rejoicing. Then it was reactivated, and we despaired.

Trump, dogged at home, heads on longest presidential Asia trip in years

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Beset by challenges at home, President Donald Trump on Friday embarks on the longest trip to Asia by an American president in more than a quarter century, looking for help to pressure North Korea to stand down from a nuclear crisis.
Trump’s tour of Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines from Friday to Nov. 14 will take him out of Washington as is preoccupied with several issues.
These include an intensifying federal investigation into Russian meddling in last year’s election, New York’s recovery from an attack that killed eight people and debate over a tax-cut plan that if approved by Congress would be his first major legislative victory.
The last time a U.S. president was in Asia for so long was in late 1991 and early 1992, when President George H.W. Bush became ill at a Japanese state dinner.
Trump’s extended absence has alarmed some allies who, after seeing a healthcare reform bid fizzle, worry the tax effort could suffer without him at close hand to keep momentum going.
“It is too long a trip and will only further hurt his most important priority, which is getting his legislative agenda through Congress,” said an outside adviser to Trump, who spoke on condition of anonymity. “Going to Asia doesn’t do anything to advance his tax-cuts agenda or to help him in his re-election efforts.”
White House officials waved off concerns, insisting Trump can keep his focus on a multitude of issues wherever he is.
The trip comes just days after Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, was indicted in the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
While tweeting about developments vigorously this week, Trump told The New York Times on Wednesday that he was “not angry at anybody” over the case and there was nothing to suggest any collusion by his campaign and Russia.
Trump will fly on Friday morning to Hawaii, stopping for a briefing on U.S. military forces in the Pacific and a visit to Pearl Harbor.
Trump will then visit Japan and South Korea in search of a united front against North Korea before going to Beijing, where he will push Chinese President Xi Jinping to get tougher with Pyongyang.
Trump will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Danang, Vietnam, make a state visit to Hanoi and end his trip with the Association of South East Asia Nations summit in Manila.

An employee at Twitter deactivated President Donald Trump’s Twitter account Thursday night, according to a statement released by the company.
Twitter released a statement Thursday evening saying an employee had “inadvertently deactivated” Trump’s personal Twitter account, calling it a “human error.” Once Trump’s account was deactivated there was an immediate reaction among Twitter users until the account reappeared several minutes after.
“Earlier today @realdonaldtrump’s account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee. The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again,” Twitter said in a statement shortly after the incident.
This comes as reports showed that Twitter buried a significant portions of tweets related to hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and Clinton campaign chair John Podesta in the last two months of the 2016 presidential campaign.
Twitter’s systems hid 48 percent of tweets using the #DNCLeak hashtag and 25 percent of tweets using #PodestaEmails, Twitter general counsel Sean Edgett said in his written testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday. “Approximately one quarter (25%) of [#PodestaEmails tweets] received internal tags from our automation detection systems that hid them from searches,” Edgett said.
Twitter declined to comment about the employee who deactivated the president’s account when contacted by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
